Welcome to Sub Junior Full Class 12, guided by Melissa McCabe. This class offers a comprehensive full-body session that develops the foundational strength, alignment, and coordination young dancers need to progress in their technique.
The class opens by targeting the glutes and core to establish pelvic stability, before moving into port de bras work — with Enhancing Arm Shapes and Spiral Arm Shape developing the quality, control, and expressiveness of the arms central to ballet technique. Turnout Pulses builds leg strength and reinforces core engagement, while Passé – Extension develops rotational control and coordination in the working leg. Temps Levé introduces the mechanics of a vertical jump with correct knee alignment, before the class closes with flexibility and spinal mobility work to bring the body back to a balanced state.
Tips
• In Beginner Clams, remind students to keep the hips still as they open the knee — the movement should come from the hip joint, not from rocking the pelvis.
• In Around the World – Extension, monitor the neck and shoulders — students should not be taking tension into the upper body.
• In Turnout Pulses, remind students to keep the core active and the torso lifted throughout.
