This exercise is designed to incorporate relevés and echappé series into every pointe class, starting at the ballet barre and progressing into the center. This combination is pivotal for strengthening the ankles and enhancing stability and control. The exercise blends fundamental pointe work with graceful port de bras, promoting overall technique and endurance.
Preparation: Begin with students in 5th position en croix, ensuring they are correctly aligned and ready for the sequence.
Steps:
1. Cue a deep breath with the port de bras to prepare.
2. Guide students into an echappé relevé into 2nd en face, emphasising the precision and control needed for a smooth landing.
3. Have students follow with a demi plié, focusing on maintaining correct alignment and preparing for the transition.
4. Instruct students to execute a sous-sus en croix, reinforcing the importance of balance and ankle strength.
5. Repeat.
6. Guide students to pas de basque glissé and posé en pointe with the right leg derrière and port de bras into 4th position.
7. Have students conclude with a demi plié and execute 2 relevés in 5th position with port de bras into 3rd arabesque, focusing on stability and control.
8. Cue students repeat the entire sequence on the opposite side for balanced development.
Focus: Stress the significance of maintaining correct posture and foot alignment throughout the exercise to ensure safety and effectiveness.
