This exercise focuses on enhancing the smooth, gliding action essential in a glissade. It aims to develop students' understanding of weight transfer and control in the movement.
Preparation: Have students wrap their thighs en dehors with a band on each leg and secure the excess at the wrists.
Steps:
1. Start with feet in 3rd position (right foot devant) and port de bras in demi seconde.
2. Guide them through 4 simple weight transfers, emphasising the 'up' motion and rolling through the metatarsals.
3. Proceed to 4 glissade dessus with port de bras alternating in 3rd position.
4. Encourage repetition to refine the smoothness and precision of the glissade.
Alignment and Technique Focus:Ensure correct foot placement and smooth transitions between movements.
Visualisation and Imagery: Use the analogy of gliding over ice or water to help students understand the fluidity required.
