This exercise is an established to strengthen the toes which is essential in pre pointe training.
Preparation: Instruct students to fold the resistance band twice to enable the band to sit between the toes. The band is medium strong in texture.
Steps:
1. Guide students to place the band under their big toe and hold the band at a right angle. Gently pull on the band while pressing the toes firmly down. Hold the resistance for 30 seconds and repeat.
2. Move to the little toe and repeat the same action.
3. Adjust the band to complete all the other toes.
4. Repeat this action on any toe that is weaker.
5. Repeat in full on the alternate foot.
Focus: Stress the importance of keeping the toes long and strong.
