Welcome to Recovery Class 3, guided by Ella Roper. Today’s session focuses on releasing tension in the muscles, connecting with the breath and resetting the spine and pelvis after training.
During the session, dancers will coordinate their breath with their movements, using the inhale to increase spinal mobility and the exhale to restore balance to the body. In Breathe with Release, the ProBall helps dancers stretch through their natural range, providing support for the natural curve in the back and offering live feedback concerning muscular imbalances.
This class supports dancers in actively increasing their range of motion while allowing them a chance to wind down and relax after a day of dancing.
Tips
Work in parallel first to feel the sensations then progress to external rotation.
Encourage dancers to actively engage their core and breathe into the stretch.
Remind students not to force the stretch but instead connect with the breath to increase the range of motion.
