Focus Warm-up 6: Coordination & Musicality, Senior Level, led by Melissa McCabe, combines core activation, dynamic coordination, and expressive upper body work in a warm-up that builds physical and artistic readiness.
The session targets pelvic stability and core awareness through Bug with Beat, before raising the intensity with Co-ordination & Pump, a dynamic exercise that challenges core strength, coordination, and stamina. Butterfly Variations develops external rotation, port de bras, and épaulement through a fluid sequence that integrates arm and leg coordination. The class closes with Épaulement Extension, working spinal rotation and port de bras quality with particular attention to shoulder alignment, rib placement, and cervical positioning.
Tips
In Bug with Beat, cue students to feel comfortable on the fusion ball — it should support the pelvis without creating compression or arching through the lumbar spine.
In Épaulement Extension, cue students to keep the core active throughout — that's what prevents the ribcage from flaring as they rotate.
