Move & Groove 12 – Junior Level brings together core strength, postural control, and dynamic leg work in a warm-up guided by Jenna Roberts.
Scissors with Obliques targets the obliques and lateral core through coordinated leg and torso movement, developing agility and rotational strength. Posture – Extension builds on postural awareness, strengthening the erector spinae and developing coordination between the pelvis, back, and shoulders through progressive leg work and port de bras. Lower Limb & Hip Control challenges weight placement and hip alignment at the barre, developing stability and precision. Battement Boost closes the class with a focus on the dynamics and control of the battement — developing extension, power, and quality in the working leg while maintaining awareness through the supporting leg.
Tips
Remind dancers to keep the upper body lifted from the core in Scissors with Obliques, not from the neck — the hands are there for support, not to pull the head up.
In Posture – Extension, watch that the pelvis stays stable as the leg extends — any tuck or tilt will compromise the stability the exercise is designed to build.
In Lower Limb & Hip Control, check that students are not leaning into the ball — the weight should be over the supporting leg throughout.
In Battement Boost, cue the dynamics of the movement — the energy and power of the battement matters as much as where the leg ends up.
