Welcome to Mobility Class 5 – Junior Level, guided by Jenna Roberts. This class is designed to develop dancers’ mobility, strength and control while reinforcing correct alignment. Throughout the class, students will work on pelvic stability, core activation, lower limb alignment and spinal strength, with a focus on maintaining control as they move through different ranges of motion.
The class begins with Clams & Core Warm-up and Corkscrew Preparation, developing hip and pelvic stability while working on turnout and foot articulation. In Posture – Extension, the focus is on strengthening the erector spinae while maintaining a stable pelvis and tension-free shoulder girdle. In Attitude Devant Line, students work on maintaining correct pelvic and supporting leg alignment while developing balance and stability.
The class then develops back strength through Arabesque Strength before finishing with Hamstring and Upper Body, combining hamstring lengthening with spinal elongation and port de bras.
Tips:
Encourage students to prioritise alignment and control rather than range or height.
In Attitude Devant Line, watch for pronation of the supporting foot and remind students to keep the hips square — if the ball moves, the hips are out of alignment.
