Focus Class 6 – Coordination & Musicality, Junior Level, guided by Melissa McCabe, is a dynamic session that develops coordination, balance, and musicality alongside targeted strength work for the supporting leg, core, and lower limb precision.
The class begins with Fusion Hopscotch and Tap & Balance, building stamina, balance, and supporting leg strength. Turnout Sync and Tombé Training develop coordination and weight transfer with a focus on fluidity and hip alignment, while Frappé & Petit Battement and Arabesque Rainbow refine lower limb precision and arabesque quality alongside musicality. Promenade Precision Training and Développé à la Seconde address supporting leg strength and pelvic alignment before Batterie Basics and Allegro Musical Drill develop coordination and precision in batterie and single-leg jumping work. The class closes with Resisted Flexibility Flow, working calf strength and core activation.
Tips
In Tap & Balance, cue pelvic stability throughout — the VMO and core should be working consistently, not just during the balance moments.
In Développé à la Seconde, remind students to keep the hips square before the leg extends — alignment there determines the quality of everything that follows.
