Questions about teaching on PBT Connect
What is PBT Connect?
PBT Connect is where you teach private one to one sessions online. You create listings for the sessions you want to offer, set your own prices, availability and cancellation policy, and students find you, book, pay and join the session right on the PBT website.
Do I need to be PBT certified to teach?
No. You need a PBT teacher account, a completed profile and a verified Stripe account to take payments, and then your listing can go live. If you do hold a PBT certification, it's added to your profile automatically so students can see it.
Do I need a PBT Online membership?
No. You don't need a membership to teach or earn on PBT Connect.
What can I teach?
Choose from a wide range of categories, including PBT, ballet, contemporary, choreography, exam and audition prep, and injury prevention. If the category you need isn't there yet, get in touch and let us know. Sessions with a clear, specific focus are the easiest for students to choose and book.
Do I set my own prices and schedule?
Yes. You choose your session lengths, prices and weekly availability, and you can block out holidays or busy dates. You also decide whether students can book instantly or send a request for you to approve.
How do I get paid?
Payments go through Stripe Connect, which you set up before your listing goes live. Once a session is completed and undisputed, your earnings are released to your Stripe account. You can track income and payouts under Earnings in your dashboard.
What does it cost me?
Nothing to join or list your sessions. PBT takes a 15% commission on your first paid booking with each new student, then 5% on every booking after that and on session packs. Stripe's payment processing fee is deducted from your earnings and shown separately after each payment.
Which currencies can I charge in?
Australian dollars, US dollars, pounds and euros. Your listing currency needs to match the currency of your Stripe account.
What happens if a student cancels?
You pick the cancellation policy for each listing: Flexible, 24 hours' notice, 48 hours' notice or non refundable. Every booking on that listing follows it, and the student sees it before they book.
Can I offer packs or discounts?
Yes. You can offer packs of 5, 10, 15 or 20 sessions at a discount, valid for 90 days. You can also create your own discount codes of up to 50% off, with an expiry date and usage limit.
How do students find me?
Students browse the PBT Connect marketplace and can filter by category, level, language and the days and times that suit them. If you're PBT certified, your profile in the certified teacher directory also shows a Book on PBT Connect badge once your listing is live, and students can filter the directory to teachers offering PBT Connect lessons.
What do I need to run a session?
A computer or phone with a camera, microphone and a good internet connection. Video is built into the website, so there's nothing for you or your student to download.
How long before my listing goes live?
Once your profile, Stripe setup and listing are complete, submit your listing for review. As soon as it's approved, it goes live in the marketplace.
