Focus Class 6 – Coordination & Musicality, Senior Level, guided by Jenna Roberts, is a full-body session designed to develop rhythmic precision, coordination, and technical control across a wide range of movement.
Throughout the class, dancers will work on connecting musicality with physical execution — from the dynamic quality of Power Band Ignite, which raises the heart rate while activating the core and challenging balance through weight transfer, to the fluid expressiveness of Port de Bras Musicale, which develops breath and freedom in the arms. Core strength and coordination are central to the session, with exercises like Figure 8 with Core and Tour Foundations targeting the transverse abdominals, obliques, and adductors to support both stability and dynamic movement. The class also dedicates time to technical preparation, with Rond de Jambe en L'air developing lower limb control and turnout, Preparation for Cabriole building the strength and coordination needed for the beating action, and Wall Allegro Sync refining batterie with the support of the ProBall and wall. Deep Flow Stretch closes the session with deep spinal mobility and elongation work.
Tips
Encourage dancers to let the music shape the quality of their movement, not just the timing — coordination and musicality are as much about intention as they are about rhythm.
Remind students that core engagement is the thread connecting every exercise in this class — from the floor work to the more dynamic sequences.
In Rond de Jambe en L'air, remind students not to force the turnout — adjust the supporting leg forward if needed to find a comfortable and honest range.
