Teacher:Welcome to Move & Groove 12 – Advanced Level, guided by Melissa McCabe. This warm-up builds turnout strength, full-body conditioning, and batterie precision through a sequence that moves from deep muscular activation to refined technical work.
Building Turnout develops the glute, hamstring, and core strength needed to sustain external rotation. Strengthening for Allegro raises the demand, integrating strength through the posterior chain and upper body in a more complex sequence. Upper Body Balance Flow shifts the quality of the work, developing spinal mobility, port de bras, and coordination. Batterie – Extension refines adductor and deep rotator activation through sissonne battue and entrechat six, demanding precision and control throughout.
Tips
In Building Turnout, cue students to feel the resistance of the band in the opening of the knees — that's where the glutes and deep rotators are working hardest.
In Strengthening for Allegro, watch for loss of spinal alignment in the quadruped position — the back should stay long and neutral throughout.
In Upper Body Balance Flow, encourage freedom through the spine — the ProBall is there to support, not to lean on.
In Batterie – Extension, cue the head in line with the spine — projecting from the crown without tensing through the neck.
