Lift through your abdominals with a firmly planted supporting foot. Keep your hip alignment square. Breathe in through the nose and out through the mouth. If the fit ball is moving underneath you, it is informing you that you are tucking your pelvis underneath.

How far back should the body bend?

Only cambré as far as your pelvis can be stabilized. Tucking the pelvis under causes many faults in your ballet training.

Does it matter the size of the fit ball?

Under 4’8″ – 45 cm ball

4’8” to 5’3” – 55 cm ball

5’4” to 5’10” – 65 cm ball

5’10 to 6’4 – 75cm ball

How does the resistance band add to this exercise?

The resistance band sets up the proprioception of the 3D spiral of the arms in classical ballet. Also the feeling of the ribs being closed and the important pull downward this the latissimus dorsi muscles.

At what age should I be doing this exercise?

The age suggestion is 14 years and above for this combination, although this depends on the maturity and years of previous training. However this exercise has varied levels of training in all 3 levels of training. Yet some 13 year old students may be clearly strong enough to start training this exercise. However they must be completely competent in the senior level of training before moving forward into the Advanced level
